LASER AND LIGHT THERAPY
variety of laser/light source options are available today for the treatment of varicose and spider veins. A light beam creates heat inside treated veins that causes them to be sealed off and reabsorbed by the body. By and large, surface laser/light source treatments are used the blood and vessel walls, where it is absorbed by hemoglobin. The hemoglobin is heated by the absorption of energy, and the vessel coagulates and closes off. The constricted vessel then degenerates, and the leg vein is no longer visible from the surface of the skin.
Laser vein treatment is performed in-office, requires no local anesthesia, and normal activity can be resumed immediately after treatment.
For optimal results, laser therapy is most often used in conjunction with other vein treatments like sclerotherapy.
