TREATMENT FOR VARICOSE VEINS
t Oz Vein Center, we offer many treatment options to get rid of abnormal veins, improve symptoms, and prevent further development and complications of varicose veins. Each case is different and may need varying combinations of treatments.
Initially, a diagnostic ultrasound exam will be performed to determine the cause and severity of the vein problem, and to decide which treatment option is best for you.

INJECTION VEIN TREATMENT (Sclerotherapy)
Sclerotherapy has long been considered a quick, safe, and effective way to get rid of varicose and spider veins. A tiny needle is used to inject the veins with a drug that dissolves the lining of the vein. In response, the veins collapse, seal shut, and are reabsorbed by the body.

SURFACE LASER/LIGHT SOURCE TREATMENT
For small spider veins, a variety of laser/light source treatments may be used. A light beam creates heat inside the veins, that causes them to be sealed off and reabsorbed by the body.

ENDOVENEOUS RADIOFREQUENCY ABLATION (Venefit)
For larger and deeper varicose veins, the minimally-invasive Venefit procedure (formerly known as Vnus Closure) may be effective. Using ultrasound, a small catheter is inserted into the diseased vein through a small opening in the skin. The catheter is used to deliver radiofrequency (RF) energy and heat the vein wall, causing the vein to shrink and seal closed; allowing blood to be re-routed to other healthy veins. Venefit is an in-office, outpatient procedure performed under local anesthesia, and the patient can walk immediately after and return to work the next day.

VEIN SURGERY
In cases where the varicose vein is too big for injection treatment, Vein removal surgery such as ambulatory phlebectomy may be necessary. Small incisions are made next to the vein and sections of vein are removed through these small nicks. This procedure is done in the doctor's office on an outpatient basis using only local anesthesia. The patient can walk immediately after the surgery and resume normal activities within 1-2 days.

FACIAL VEIN TREATMENT
For tiny spider veins on the face, Veinwave technology is used for treatment. A tiny needle is placed subepidermally, and Veinwave delivers heat to close the veins instantly. The procedure is virtually pain free and takes less than an hour.

CONSERVATIVE METHODS
For less severe cases of varicose veins, other measures at home can be taken to lessen the progression or symptoms of the condition. These methods include compression stockings and herbal supplements.
